Myofascial means muscle and fascia. We know what our muscles are. Fascia is connective tisse that covers all of our muscles, organs and connects the skin to the underlying structures. Trigger Point Therapy works with our pain. They are those exquisitely painful places in the muscles that, when worked with controlled pressure, release the "knot" in the muscle tissue. This brings the length back into the muscle, relieving the referred pain and tension on the attachments of the muscles. The work can be done on the whole body or in specific sites like shoulders and lower back. It is also very effective for plantar fasciatis. NMT is a form of Deep Tissue Massage using a pattern of deep strokes on the whole body except the lower legs.
