Basalt or river stones of various sizes and shapes are soaked in water heated to approximately 120°. These smooth stones absorb and hold heat as they are used to provide a warm, relaxing massage. Your massage therapist will apply basic Swedish effleurage and friction strokes while holding a heated stone in each hand. Smaller stones may be placed between the toes or on the forehead to further relax and warm the body. Special gemstones may be placed on the Chakra centers to further enhance the energy and balancing effect of the Hot Stone Massage

For those who prefer deep pressure to release chronic patterns of tension. It is recommended that at least one hour of massage is scheduled for this type of massage. Chinese Tuina methods may also be used, stimulating the muscles in a vigorous
push/pull method.
